Dr. Joseph A. Broujerdi is board certified in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery http://www.aboms.org. He performs Orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery, bone grafting to the jaws in preparation for dental implant reconstruction, removal of cyst of the jaw and maxillofacial trauma. On-site 3D state-of-the-art Cat Scan and a team of experienced Dental professionals headed by Dr. Joseph N. Stan (http://www.unforgettablesmile.com) provides patients with the expertise in the medical and dental fields.
ORTHOGNATHIC SURGERY: Corrective jaw or orthognathic surgery is performed to correct a wide range of minor and major skeletal and dental irregularities, including the misalignment of jaws and teeth, which, in turn, can improve chewing, speaking and breathing. While the patient's appearance may be dramatically enhanced as a result of their surgery, orthognathic surgery is performed to correct functional problems as well.
BONE GRAFTING OF THE JAW: Inadequate bone structure in the upper and/or lower jaws can result from injury or trauma, tumor surgery or long-term denture wear. Using bone grafts from either the patient's own bone or bone substitutes, can improve both the quantity and quality of the hard tissue. Skin grafts and soft tissue corrections can be utilized to improve the architecture of the soft tissues in the oral region. Through oral reconstructive surgery, a solid foundation can be provided for dental rehabilitation, which in turn, aids nutrition and speech. If the patient is a candidate, dental implants may be used to replace lost teeth and other structures. Implants can also be used to anchor both oral and facial prostheses.
CYSTS OF THE JAW: The diagnosis of cysts in the oral region is important. If indicated, biopsies and removal can be performed. Early detection and treatment of oral cysts greatly improves the patient's oral health.
MAXILLOFACIAL TRAUMA: Dr Broujerdi is well-trained in treating maxillofacial injuries, including fractures of the upper and lower jaws and orbits, and the cosmetic management of facial lacerations. His knowledge of how the jaws come together (dental occlusion) is critical when repairing complex facial fractures. He uses both his dental (Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery) and medical (Plastic & Reconstructive/Craniofacial Surgery) training as building blocks to treat the most serious and complex facial trauma in his patients. He provides state-of-the-art technology in the office by using a Spiral Facial Cat Scan, with 3D reconstruction of facial bones to diagnosis the most complex injuries. This will avoid costly emergency room visits and waiting for treatment. Various safe and effective sedation techniques can be employed to deliver prompt, comfortable and successful treatment of minor injuries in the office setting.
