You may be a candidate for laser resurfacing if you have fine or coarse wrinkles of the skin--usually on the face. Laser resurfacing may also be used to treat uneven skin surface as a result of scarring acne or small skin growths. Laser resurfacing may also be desirable if you have areas of hyperpigmentation (age spots).

Laser resurfacing is intended to give the patient a smoother, youthful-appearing skin of more uniform color. The superficial layers of the skin are removed by the pulsed laser. The advantage of the laser is that the depth of treatment is extremely controlled and predictable. The laser treatment also tightens the skin.
